Professor Darrat is the Chase Bank Endowed Professor of Finance & Professor of Economics at Louisiana Tech University, USA (Retired in 2017). His research focuses on topics related to Dynamics and Efficiency of Financial and Capital Markets, Monetary Theory and Policy, International Finance, Economics of Government Budget Deficits, Applied Macroeconomics, and Business Cycles and Inflation Forecasting. He published nearly 200 articles in professional refereed national and international journals in the fields of finance and economics. His published papers have been widely cited (more than 7,000 citations) by other professionals in the field of finance and economics. He received his PhD from Indiana University (Bloomington). He is a Research Fellow, Economic Research Forum. I met Prof. Darrat for the first time back in 2011 and since then, I have considered him as my father figure.
Prof. Gourd is a former professor of Computer Science & Cyber Engineering at Louisiana Tech University, USA. Now, he serves as a professor and the chair of Computer Science Department at University of Tampa, USA. His specializes in artificial intelligence, software engineering, cybersecurity, distributed computing and computer science curriculum development. He has a special interest in hands-on, projects-based learning in computer science, especially in the key formative years of a student’s education. During his career, Gourd has received over $6.5 million in funding for foundational research in computing, applied projects in computing and cybersecurity, and educational activities. He has worked with the government and military on projects involving intelligent systems, airplane security and simulation, cyber education and secure supply chain management. Prof. Gourd was my Ph.D. advisory committee chair and he is my role model when it comes to teaching and research activities.
